Country Director Central America – Executive CommitteeCecilia is Country Director Central America of asistensi, a Madrid-based insurtech, with operations in Latin America and South East Asia. It offers accessible health plans to the families of migrants who reside in Europe, the United States and the Middle East that include health services and insurance coverage to protect them against day-to-day ailments, common illnesses, and medical emergencies.
Prior to this, Cecilia was the COO and Co-Founder of fri, a fintech company transforming the transfers and payments space in Guatemala. A key contributor from the startup's founding, she held various roles while at fri, and developed her resilience, adaptability and passion for startups in the tech space. More recently, as COO, she oversaw the creation and execution of processes across all departments with the objective of reducing costs and errors, increasing team productivity and improving communication. She led the development of the customer service division, oversaw daily financial conciliations with partner banks, and created processes that improved the relationship between partner banks and fri, among others.
Cecilia is also a Partner at Nahual Ventures where, in conjunction with two other partners – she has created, researched, defined, built teams, and launched technology-driven startups. In that role, she has worked closely with technical teams to create new products from design to delivery and has even taken on the hat of Scrum master.
She has a Bachelor in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford, as well as an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, where she graduated with honors.
