Bjorn Pardo
Country Director Philippines – Executive CommitteeBjorn is the Philippines Country Director of asistensi, a Madrid-based insurtech, with operations in Latin America and South East Asia. It offers accessible health plans to the families of migrants who reside in Europe, the United States and the Middle East that include health services and insurance coverage to protect them against day-to-day ailments, common illnesses, and medical emergencies.
Prior to this, Bjorn was the Philippines Country Head of Digital Payments for Home Credit, the leading emerging market consumer finance provider with over 130 million customers. There he led the strategy and execution of the digital payments business
Previously, Bjorn was Managing Director of Commerce and Payments for UBX, the Venture Builder of UnionBank, the Philippines’ Best Digital Bank. During his time there, he ideated, built and launched 2 ventures, and grew them to serve over 100,000 businesses.
Earlier on, Bjorn founded and served as CEO of Xend, South East Asia’s 1st eCommerce Logistics Company. He bootstrapped the company to market leadership in the Philippines. Xend served over 500,000 customers and delivered over 50 million parcels.
In addition to this, Bjorn co-founded several other eCommerce startups, including Jinio (cross-border logistics), QuadX (Philippines’ 1st eCommerce Venture Builder) and OkayOkay (B2C group-buying, exit to LBC).
Bjorn has also held executive, board director, or senior advisory positions in the following companies:
- Openovate Labs, a Software Development company that exited to the Sterling Group
- 7-Eleven Philippines, the Philippines’ #1 convenience store where he conceptualized and launched their first parcel delivery service
- FDEV, venture builder backed by Filinvest, one of the Philippines’ leading conglomerates
In addition, Bjorn was voted as one of Asia’s Top 50 Rising Tech Stars by Tatler Asia and is a 2x GenT awardee.
Bjorn has an MBA from IE Business School and was part of the highly selective eFounders Fellowship program, a joint initiative of Alibaba Business School and the United Nations.
