Miguel Medina
Country Director Mexico – Executive CommitteeMiguel is a Country Director Mexico for asistensi, a Madrid-based insurtech, with operations in Latin America and South East Asia. It offers accessible health plans to the families of migrants who reside in Europe, the United States and the Middle East that include health services and insurance coverage to protect them against day-to-day ailments, common illnesses, and medical emergencies.
Prior to this role, Miguel was responsible for Strategic Partnerships and Initiatives at Beat (Free Now Group), the fastest-growing and a leading ride-hailing app in LATAM where he led the development of new business verticals, strategic projects and key initiatives such as: fleet, payments, security, and most noticeably managed marketplace, playing an important part in the rollout of “Beat Tesla”, where he negotiated a multiannual contract with ENGIE and oversaw the development of a first-of-a-kind electric infrastructure in the market.
Also at Beat, Miguel served as an International Launcher, where he outlined and executed go-to-market strategies for several cities in Mexico and Argentina.
Previously, Miguel spent time at eBay´s ticket marketplace StubHub (exited to Viagogo), which generated USD 4bn in GMS annually. During his time there, Miguel served as the youngest Business Development Manager and managed the implementation and operations of a new primary ticketing software/technology (“do it yourself” model) that represented 20% of StubHub ́s global partnerships GMS. Also, he spearheaded StubHub ́s first international primary ticketing partnership and the first secondary ticketing partnership with a sports & entertainment property in Latin America.
Before StubHub, Miguel worked at Ticketbis (exited to eBay) holding business development and management positions. During his stint there and prior to the company’s acquisition, Miguel drove high-value synergies with leading media companies and entertainment properties as well as, being responsible for the scale-up strategy, growth+ revenue, and P&L.
In addition, Miguel worked for the Houston Texans, a professional football team based in Texas (USA), competing in the National Football League (NFL), and ranked by Forbes as one of the most valuable sports franchises in the world.
Miguel has a Bachelor of Science from Southern Methodist University (USA) and is currently involved in LATAM´s startup ecosystem, advising and investing in early-stage companies.
